Hi, my name is Joanna and I’m from NY, America. I was actually born in Japan and raised in Hamamatsu city until I left for college when I was 18 years old. Much of my teaching style has been developed through time spent with Japanese people which has motivated me to be result-oriented and efficient with my time. In 2015, I moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia and spent 18 months teaching English and learning Khmer, the Cambodian language. I believe part of learning a new language is to learn its culture so my lessons will always include a fun aspect of English culture, including common phrases and patterns we tend to use when speaking in English. I also love teaching pronunciation and enjoy finding creative ways to practice new words and dialogues! With over 15 years teaching experience, I have come to this conclusion; YOU are your best teacher. I am here to coach you and show you ways you can better improve your learning skills so together, we can discover the best way to achieve your English goals. Practice really does make perfect and whether your goal is speaking or listening, or even passing a test, my lessons will be always be fun while also focusing on ways you can review at home and keep learning!
